Girls in Real-Life Situations
Group Counseling Activities for Enhancing Social and Emotional Development
by Shannon Trice-Black and Julia V. Taylor

Grades K-12

It's a girl thing-that is, being forced to grow up too quickly and face difficult issues when you're still just a kid. This proactive group counseling curriculum helps girls to feel empowered, develop positive coping skills, and learn to make healthy decisions. For younger girls it presents 80 activities covering 10 sessions; for older girls, 90 activities divided into 12 sessions. Themes include Identity, Body Image, Choices, Communication, Emotions, Friendships, Relationships, Self-Esteem, Stress, Reaching Out, and more. Girls are encouraged to share feelings and struggles as they openly discuss important issues in a safe and supportive environment. CD-ROMs provide printable PDFs of all forms and student handouts.

"A must-have for anyone working with young women today!"
