Superflex: A Superhero Social Thinking Curriculum
by Stephanie Madrigal and Michelle Garcia Winner
Comic Book by Stephanie Madrigal; illustrated by Kelly Knopp

Grades K through 5

Social skills require flexible thinking--which is exactly what this wonderful curriculum teaches. Designed for students with autism spectrum disorders--but useful with any child who has trouble reading social cues--Superflex includes a 100-page book with lesson plans, a CD with printable handouts, and a comic book that kids love. These materials help youngsters understand social expectations and learn to modify their behavior to suit particular settings and situations. As they enter "Social Town," children join Superflex and his dog Bark, who are battling Rock Brain and the Team of Unthinkables. Assuming the role of superheroes-in-training, kids begin to see the difference between a rigid mindset and the more flexible thinking required in social situations.
